Andrew C. Corbin brings 41 years of experience in health insurance sales and management to the position of president/CEO of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas, a position he has held since Oct. 1, 2007. He is just the seventh top executive in the company's 75-year history.
Corbin was promoted to the company's top leadership role after six years as a vice president. He most recently served as vice president of external sales and provider affairs, leading the company’s marketing, provider relations and reimbursement division as well as leading two of the company's subsidiaries.
When he joined BCBSKS as director of sales in 1987, Corbin already had 13 years of sales and management experience with other health insurers. After a brief stint as a teacher and coach, he served six years as sales manager for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas City. He later served five years as district sales director for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas and two years as director of marketing for Humana Insurance Co.
In addition to his role as president/CEO of BCBSKS, Corbin serves in leadership positions for the company’s subsidiaries. He is chairman of Advance Insurance Company of Kansas, chairman/CEO of BlueCross BlueShield Kansas Solutions and president of the Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas Foundation.
He also represents BCBSKS on the boards and committees of several national organizations. He is a member of the board of directors for the Blue Cross Blue Shield Association, TriWest Healthcare Alliance and Prime Therapeutics LLC. He serves as treasurer of TriWest and is on the TriWest executive committee and board; he also serves on Prime's human resources committee.
Corbin is extensively involved in the Blue Cross Blue Shield Association, serving as a board member. He serves as a member of the NEBC investment committee and the BCBSA Special Task Force committee. He is a member of the Federal Employee Program Board of Managers and is chairman of the FEP Compliance committee.
Closer to home, Corbin serves on the board of Go Topeka and the Kansas Insurance Education Foundation. In 2016, he was honored with induction into the Junior Achievement Topeka Business Hall of Fame. In 2017, Ingram's named him as one of the "250 Most Powerful Business Leaders in Greater Kansas City." He was the 2009 campaign chairman for Meals on Wheels. He served on the board of directors for the United Way of Greater Topeka and was treasurer in 2010.
Corbin is a native of Alva, OK, but has spent the majority of his life in Kansas. He was raised in Liberal and graduated from Wichita State University in 1972 with a bachelor's in education and has received the designation of Certified Health Consultant through Purdue University.
