COVID-19 Vaccine Coverage

In anticipation of approved COVID-19 vaccines, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas (BCBSKS) is updating our coverage of the vaccine. Medicare Advantage (MA) beneficiaries will be able to receive the vaccine without any cost share through Medicare FFS program for 2020 and 2021. MA beneficiaries can receive the vaccine at any Medicare FFS provider or supplier that participates in Medicare and is eligible to bill under Part B for vaccine administration including those enrolled in Medicare as:

• Mass immunizer
• Physician
• Non-physician practitioner
• Hospital
• Clinic
• Group practice

All claims for COVID-19 vaccines supplied to MA beneficiaries should be sent directly to CMS Medicare Administrative Contractor (MAC) for reimbursement. BCBSKS will continue to monitor the development and approval of COVID-19 vaccines. We will communicate any additional information and new administrative details as they become available.
